BRANFORD, Conn. (AP) — A 12-year-old girl from Clinton is receiving praise for rushing to the aid of an elderly couple as they were attacked by an irate driver.

Branford police chief Kevin Halloran says he and the other officers are astonished at the act of bravery by Jordon Ledyard.

Authorities say the elderly couple was attacked by a 19-year-old man after their car struck his on Monday afternoon. He allegedly pushed the couple to the ground as they got out to inspect the damage and kicked the woman in the face.

Police say Jordan was struck by the man herself after she and others rushed to help the couple. The teen assaulted a total of four people.

Holloran said Thursday that Jordan's actions were truly noble.
