Flanders Fish Market & Restaurant in East Lyme announced this week that it would use money from a community service award to help start the Donna Formica Scholarship Fund, named after the late wife of restaurant owner Paul Formica, the town's first selectman.

An unspecified amount of scholarship money will go to local high school students who want to pursue a culinary career and be involved in community service, according to a news release.

Flanders Fish, celebrating its 30th year in business, won this year's Niantic Rotary Club Annual Outstanding Community Service Award along with a $1,000 donation from the club.
