Local roundup: Klapp leads Mariners to victory

Marcy, N.Y. - David Klapp had four goals and an assist to lead Mitchell past SUNY-Institute of Technology Thursday night, 8-4, in men's lacrosse.

Aaron Sladyk had two goals and an assist for Mitchell (2-1) and Waterford's Aaron Feinberg scored. Quaker Hill's Peter Eshenfelder added six saves.

Klapp and Sladyk both scored twice in the fourth quarter to break a 4-4 tie.

Denver Babowicz had a goal and an assist for the Wildcats (0-4).

Thibault honored

• Former East Lyme star Carly Thibault was named to the All-Northeast Conference third team, the league announced Thursday.

Thibault averaged 8.7 points and 3.5 rebounds for Monmouth. She also shot a league-leading 44.1-percent on her 3-point shots. She ranks third all-time in school history in 3-point field goals made (164), and her 56 3-points this season is the sixth-most in a single season for the Hawks.
