The winter just had to louse up high school sports again.
Friday's inclement weather forced all CIAC events to be postponed to today. On the positive side, there are a total of 40 basketball and hockey state tournament games across the state to be enjoyed.
Locally, fourth-seeded Ledyard will play host to No. 5 Valley Regional of Deep River in a CIAC Class M quarterfinal (4 p.m.). No. 14 Waterford will play at No. 3 Bunnell of Stratford in a Class M second-round game (1 p.m.), and No. 5 Old Lyme will play host to No. 12 Nonnewaug of Woodbury (3 p.m.)
The seventh-seeded Montville girls' basketball team treks west to play No. 2 Notre Dame of Fairfield in a Class M quarterfinal (4 p.m.)
The St. Bernard/NFA/Bacon Academy hockey team will finally get to play its first game of the Division III tournament. The No. 2 Saints play No. 7 Sheehan of Wallingford in a quarterfinal game at Trinity College at 7 p.m. Their game has been postponed on consecutive days, and they haven't played a game since their regular season finale on Feb. 27.
