The New England Ratepayers Association, a nonprofit advocacy group focused on issues impacting utility ratepayers in New England, has formed. "The New England Ratepayers Association was established to give a larger voice for families and businesses that are served by regulated utilities," according to a news release. "NERA will promote legislation, regulatory rules, policies and projects which will supply the lowest cost, reliable, and secure utility resources for customers in the region."
NERA plans to be active in all six New England states, providing resources and information to the general public, regulators and elected officials on a variety of issues that both directly and indirectly affect the cost of utilities to the ratepayer.
