New London – Firefighters extricated a woman from her car this afternoon after it flipped on its roof near the intersection of Water Street and Governor Winthrop Boulevard. Police responded to the incident, which appeared to involve another car, at 3:48 p.m.
Several firefighters used the Jaws of Life to remove a door from the flipped Mustang GT and were able to help the woman, who was conscious, out of the vehicle and onto a stretcher. She was taken by ambulance to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital. Traffic was detoured from Water Street for a short period.
