Of Dogbite and "Coyote"

Published March 21. 2013 4:00AM

It's always nice to see the exquisitely rootsy Dogbite out and about - something that happens all too rarely. Friday, though, in a bit of booking wizardry that recalls the glory days of the Blue Collar Happy Hour, Dogbite will play an early show in New London's Bank Street Cafe.

The band, celebrating "Coyote," a Giant Sand-meets-Explosions in the Sky instrumental on the upcoming "Good Sponge Vol. 2" sampler, will perform from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Expect material from their 2010 "Joyride" album as well as "Coyote" - not to mention other new material.

Dogbite, 6:30 p.m. Friday, Bank Street Cafe, 639 Bank Street Cafe, New London; $5; (860) 444-1444.
