Allow gun ownership but with safeguards

Much has been written in the letters to the editor about gun control and mental illness.

I respect those who own guns for target shooting and hunting. I personally do not own a gun. I eat butchered meats and poultry so I can't claim to be against killing animals. But those who own guns for personal protection and security reasons should be required to complete the same extensive training required of local and state police.

In regards to guns and mental illness, all gun owners should be required to have a psychiatric evaluation every six months.
