Published April 01. 2013 4:00AM

Salem Free Public Library is accepting applications for its poetry contest through April 30. The contest is open to all ages that reside in New London or Middlesex counties. Applications can be found at www.salemct.gov/Pages/SalemCT_Library.

Poems must be accompanied by the poetry application form, and entries are limited to one original poem per person. Keep a copy, as your poem will not be returned to you.

The poems should be 50 lines or less and must be typed, double-spaced, in a Times New Roman 12-point font. The decision of the judges will be final. There will be 15 possible prizes, a variety of which will be categorized by age.

Entries must be postmarked April 30 or delivered to the library by 7:30 p.m.
