Five state Department of Banking employees have been honored by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Connecticut.
Principal examiner Klemes M. Klementon, Banking Department manager Cesar Garcia, Assistant Director Cynthia Antanaitis and associate financial examiners Sylvia Morgan and Jon Petrucci were recognized.
Klementon, Garcia and Antanaitis won awards for work on the investor fraud case U.S. v. Stephen Blankenship. Blankenship, an investment adviser, was sentenced to 41 months incarceration.
Morgan, Petrucci, Klementon and Garcia were recognized in the case of U.S. v. Robin Brass. Brass was sentenced to 96 months imprisonment for running what was described as a Ponzi scheme.
