"Focus" opens at Essex Art Association

Published April 30. 2013 4:00AM

You can be forgiven if, upon seeing the word Focus in an artistic context, you think of the immortal Dutch band fronted by Thijs Van Leer and his yodel-happy tune, "Hocus Pocus." On Friday, though, at the Essex Art Association, a new exhibition called "Focus" opens with a reception from 6-8 p.m. A juried show open to all artists over 18, "Focus" also features a special exhibit by Jean Dalton in the adjunct Exit Gallery. Dalton's, well, focus is non-objective abstract painting, as per the piece here. Through May 25. Essex Art Association, 10 North Main St., Essex. Hours 1-5 p.m. Wed.-Mon.; (860) 767-8996, essexartassociation.com
