Foxwoods picks up ‘Apprentices’

Published May 11. 2013 4:00AM

You know a place has become a pop-culture touchstone when it becomes the focus of a reality-show challenge.

In the most recent episode of "Celebrity Apprentice," which aired Sunday, the competition revolved around a promotion party for Foxwoods.

Each celeb team had to base their parties on one of the Foxwoods customer profiles - such as the King, Queen and Joker. Teams also had to meet with Scott Butera, president and CEO of Foxwoods, and Rodney Butler, chairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Council.

Challenge winners Lisa Rinna and Penn Jillette recruited performers that appear regularly at Foxwoods- Jillette flew in his partner Teller, and comedian Lisa Lampanelli did some stand-up, keeping in line with their "Joker" theme. They had chef David Burke - whose restaurant is located at Foxwoods - cater, and in a nod to the Mashantuckets, Rinna and Jillette brought in a Native-American flute player.
