A week-long toast to beer

Published May 12. 2013 4:00AM

Connecticut Beer Week kicks off May 13, and local craft beer fans have some events to choose from.

Beers from around the state will take over all the taps in three area pubs: Stone Fleet Tavern, New London, May 14, 6 p.m., $3 pints; Captain Daniel Packer Inn, Mystic, May 16, $4 beers; and Harp and Dragon, Norwich, May 16, 4-6 p.m., 25 percent off local brews.

A beer dinner will be held May 18 at Beer'd Brewing in Stonington. The three-course meal will be prepared by Greg Alessi of Mystic; desserts will be provided by Zest Fresh Pastry. The dinner costs $55 plus tax. The event is open only to members of the Trail Blazers' Club. For more information and to register, go to www.ctbeerweek.com.

In Westerly, tap takeovers will happen at Malted Barley and 84 Tavern on Canal all week, and Kegs for a Cause will be held Sunday, May 19, at 84 Tavern with proceeds going to the One Fund.
