Sun waive Williams, Leedham to reach roster limit

Mohegan - The Connecticut Sun set their 11-player roster Thursday by retaining Ashley Walker and Natasha Lacy and waiving Latoya Williams and Johannah Leedham.

Walker, a 6-foot-1 forward-center, averaged a team-high 10.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and five 3-pointers during the Sun's three preseason games. She was the Seattle Storm's first-round pick (12th overall) in the 2009 draft. She's played 15 games from 2009-2010 with Seattle and the Tulsa Shock.

Lacy, a 5-10 guard, averaged five rebounds during the preseason. She's played 65 games the previous three seasons for Tulsa, Los Angeles, and Washington.

"This was an extremely difficult decision and it honestly came down to the last possible day for our coaching staff," Sun coach Anne Donovan said. "Everyone who participated in our training camp made a strong case for inclusion on this team. Certainly, Johannah and Latoya were in the mix until the very end. Unfortunately, with an 11-player roster, these are the tough choices we face."
