Lyme - Old Lyme veterans seek help to locate veterans in need

Published May 27. 2013 4:00AM

Old Lyme — The Lyme - Old Lyme Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1467 is looking for help identifying veterans in need in the community.

The post received a donation, to be spent on veterans in Lyme and Old Lyme and/or their families, who find themselves in unfortunate circumstances. The post wants to use the donation to defray costs for a rental payment or mortgage interest payment or pay for utility or home heating fuel, medical expenses, medications, eyeglasses, food and incidentals, children's clothing or durable medical equipment. The post could also temporarily defray the costs of vehicle repairs and maintenance, repairs, or renovations to make a veteran's home handicapped accessible.

For more information, contact John Donnelly at j.donnelly@snet.net">j.donnelly@snet.net or 860-767-9999, or Tim Griswold at timothygriswold@yahoo.com">timothygriswold@yahoo.com or 860-434-9111.

The post is also looking for veterans in Lyme and Old Lyme to join the post, which participates in a number of community service and outreach programs.

The post wants to thank local veterans for their service and encourages them to get involved. The post meets every fourth Monday of the month at 5 p.m. at the Lyme-Old Lyme Senior Center, and will have a booth at the Lions Club Car Show Monday, May 27. Andy Brennan, the post commander, can be reached at adeeandy@aol.com">adeeandy@aol.com.
