Three Rivers presents folk art show

Published May 28. 2013 4:00AM

Folk art is hard to define, but you know it when you see it. Consider the wonderfully fine pieces by Louisiana native Roy Tookes (see his "Cat," shown here). Now living in Norwich, where he's the head custodian at Three Rivers Community College, Tookes' works have become popular with faculty and staff - and many of them own his paintings and found-objects sculptures. In acknowledgement of his skill and vision, an exhibition of Tookes' art starts with a reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, in The Gallery at Three Rivers, 574 New London Turnpike, Norwich. Many of the works will be available for sale. Runs through Aug. 6. Hours 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Mon.-Fri., 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sat.
