Waterford softball final moved to Sunday

Waterford High School's state championship softball game was rained out Friday night and rescheduled for Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at West Haven High School.

The 12th-seeded Lancers (21-6) will play No. 2 Granby for the Class M title. The two teams met in the semifinals a year ago with Granby winning.

CIAC officials also moved the three state softball title games scheduled for today to Sunday, too. The Class S final between Oxford and Terryville will be played before the Waterford-Granby game at West Haven at 1 p.m., while DeLuca Field in Stratford will also host a doubleheader: Foran vs. Masuk in Class L (1 p.m.) and Mercy vs. Southington in Class LL (4 p.m.).

In addition, Friday's Class S baseball final between Cromwell and Oxford was been postponed until Sunday at 3:45 p.m. at Palmer Field in Middletown.
