DMX leads Old-School Hip-Hop lineup at MGM Grand at Foxwoods

Published June 13. 2013 4:00AM

At issue with many gangsta rappers is the authenticity of their claims of hood-centric misdeeds. Many, it seems, inflate their resumes so as to appear far more felonious than they really are. Street cred and all that ...

No worries with DMX, the hip-hop artist who has sold over 30 million albums in his career. Indeed, Dark Man X, as he is also known, has assembled a check list of felony charges over the years that would chill the soul of Clarence Darrow.

As such, his anecdotal and boast-worthy tunes are decidedly in the "keepin' it real" context.

DMX is only one of many massively successful acts performing Friday at the Old School Hip-Hop Jam in the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods. Also on the bill: EPMD, Naughty By Nature, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Special Ed, Slick Rick, and Biz Markie.

Old School Hip-Hop Jam, 8 p.m. Friday, MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods; $55, $75; 1-800-200-2882, foxwoods.com.
