Martha White signs "E.B. White on Dogs"

Published June 27. 2013 4:00AM

Yes, the late E.B. White remained busy. He endeared himself to generations of children through his books "Charlotte's Web," "Stuart Little" and "The Trumpet of the Swan."

He co-wrote that towering golem of grammar: "The Elements of Style." And for over five decades, he churned out delightful columns, essays and poems for publications such as The New Yorker and Harper's.

Many of those shorter pieces - along with letters and sketches - concerned his thoughts on and affection for dogs. Now, White's granddaughter, Martha White - the executor of his literary estate - has compiled the best and funniest of his canine musings in a book called "E.B. White on Dogs."

On Saturday, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Bank Square Books in Mystic, Martha White will sign copies of "E.B. White on Dogs."
