Avery House caretakers win award

The Avery Memorial Association of Groton has won an Honorable Mention Award of Merit from the Connecticut League of History Organizations for the third consecutive year. The award recognizes the Ebenezer Avery House Outside Restoration Project.

The Avery Memorial Association is responsible for the care and upkeep of the Ebenezer Avery House, which was used to care for the wounded after the battle of Fort Griswold on Sept. 6, 1781.

The CLHO presented the award to the association's president Stephanie Lantiere at a ceremony on June 3.
