You know what would not be fun? To be a member of the Taylor family and not play an instrument. Or maybe you have a singing voice that sounds like someone running over glass bottles with a lawn mower.
Otherwise, the casual singalongs at the Taylor compound on Martha's Vineyard are probably fairly musicial, what with siblings James, Livingston and Kate, and James' kids Ben and Sally all wielding guitars and solid professional careers.
Kate, whose body of work as an Americana stylist is most recently represented on her 2009 "Fair Time!" album, performs Friday at the Knickerbocker Cafe in Westerly. Probably no relatives present, but the Penguin Boys and Lynsea Montanari and Erica Whaley provide support for what should be a nice show.
