At this point in Robert Plant's artistically adventurous career, any new tour makes fans ask: "Well, what the hell am I paying for this time?"
You probably don't look for letter perfect recitations of iconic Zeppage. What about those early solo albums? Then there's the recent chapter that included various collaborations with Alison Krauss, T Bone Burnett, Patty Griffin, Buddy Miller and the Band of Joy.
What, then, WILL happen when Plant hits the Mohegan Sun Arena on Wednesday?
It seems that his latest junket is billed as Robert Plant Presents the Sensational Space Shifters, a band that incorporates various African and psychedelic influences. And since - surprise! - over half of the tour's set list actually does consist of Led Zeppelin material, expect those tunes to have been tweaked in substantial but clever and rewarding fashion.
