Stonington Players take to the "Blue Yonder"

Published August 08. 2013 4:00AM

Let's hear it for the ladies!

Stonington Players are presenting a series of monologues, each focusing on a single woman.

These characters are, naturally, quirky enough to hold the spotlight. So we have the likes of a flight instructor, a baseball player, and a daredevil who plays with dynamite.

The show, titled "Blue Yonder," runs Tuesday, Wednesday, and Aug. 15 in Stonington Borough's Wadawanuck Square. And the performances are free.

The "Blue Yonder" pieces are penned by Kate Aspengren, and the breakdown here is: Beverly Gipson in "Taurus the Bull," directed by Christine Gunther; Claire Leatham in "Heat," directed by Tai Scavetta; Dorian Mendez in "The Follower" and Edythe Rose in"Blue Yonder," both directed by Regan Morse; and Marie Lesage in "Dynamite" and Helen Cronin in "Mama is Here," both directed by Vic Panciera.

"Blue Yonder," 7 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Aug. 15, Wadawanuck Square, 20 High St., Stonington Borough; Stonington Players; bring chairs, blankets, picnic; if rain, moves to Stonington Community Center, 28 Cutler St.; free, donations accepted; HVPanciera@aol.com.
