Bill Burr brings his comedy to MGM Grand at Foxwoods

Published August 22. 2013 4:00AM

One of the best part of this summer's movie hit "The Heat," starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy? The family of McCarthy's character - a bunch of loud, battling relatives with broad (but damned accurate) Boston accents. It was like the gang in "The Fighter" ... only funny.

Well, one of McCarthy's brothers was Bill Burr, who knows about Massachusetts accents, having been born in the state.

Burr - who's performing Friday at MGM Grand at Foxwoods - is a killer stand-up comic, but he's developed a healthy sideline as an actor, nabbing small roles in "Date Night" and "Stand Up Guys" (alongside Pacino and Walken - pretty good acting company) and turning up a few times on "Breaking Bad."

Bill Burr, 9 p.m. Friday, MGM Grand at Foxwoods; $30-$50; 1-800-200-2882.
