Waterford — Valerie A. Muckle was elected by 3rd District Waterford Representative Town Meeting members on Monday night to replace RTM member Mark R. Gelina, who recently was appointed to the Board of Police Commissioners.

Muckle will be joining her father, Richard F. Muckle, on the board. This would be the first father and daughter team on the RTM in more than 21 years, said Robert Nye, Waterford town clerk and municipal historian.

Muckle would have to run for election on Nov. 5 along with all other RTM candidates if she wanted to serve on the RTM for the next two-year term.

Do you think the U.S. should strike Syria for the alleged deadly chemical weapons attack?
Yes. This was Obama's 'red line' and Syria crossed it.
I agree with congressmen who are urging the president to seek U.N. Security Council approval before proceeding.
I don't think the U.S. should do this unilaterally.
No. A punitive strike would do nothing to protect Syrian civilians.
A U.S. strike would only escalate the conflict by drawing neighboring countries into the fight.
