8 p.m. Saturday
Folk Festival and Green Expo
Edgerton Park, Cliff St. at Whitney Ave., Hamden
Darrell Scott is one of THE go-to songwriters for uber-successful Nashville producers and recording artists. Brad Paisley, Faith Hill, the Dixie Chicks, Keb Mo and Dave Alvin are just a representative sampling of bad-asses who've covered Scott's tunes. He's less known as a solo artist - which is something I'll never figure out. His albums "Theater of the Unheard" (and its massively great "Uncle Lloyd") and "Long Ride Home," and a recently released collaborative live record with Tim O'Brien - hilariously titled "We're Usually a Lot Better Than This" - are world-class. As for the Folk/Green Fest/Expo, there's a whole day's worth of fine live entertainment, including New London's Daphne Lee Martin participating in the Connecticut Song Circle at 12.30 p.m. Plus, this is one of those events where you learn not to throw diapers and napalm into landfills. It's free; ctfolk.com.
