How fun would it be, Friday night, if Westerly folk singer Sister Mary performed a rendition of "Mother Mary," the anthemic tune off of UFO's "Force It" album?
Probably not going to happen but ...
That doesn't mean you shouldn't show up for the inaugural Friday Night Folk concert of the season. Indeed, Sister Mary - aka Mary T.S. Brooks - is an intensely melodic writer and a versatile performer. Some folks describe her as a "female Iron & Wine," and that's high praise. Expect to hear material from her latest album, "Mountain Blues," which came out in January, as well as her first record, "Nothing More, Nothing Less."
Opening is Niantic's estimably talented Sue Mead.
As always, the Friday Night Folk shows take place in Unity Hall at New London's All Souls Unitarian Universalist Congregation.
