Mystic Seaport welcomes Alistair Anderson

Published September 12. 2013 4:00AM

Alistair Anderson is a veritable magician with the English concertina and Northumbrian pipes.

He's performed around the world over the years, with a critic from New Zealand's Hamilton Journal writing, "This musician, full of vitality, charm and superb musicianship, enthralled his audience with a programme of remarkable scope."

Folk Roots has opined, "On both concertina and Northumbrian pipes, Anderson's control, sheer rhythmic drive and great sensitivity are the first things to hit you. ... Anderson is a treat to watch, as well; his own involvement and delight in the music are infectious. Beautiful music, played with skill, taste and affection."

Experience all that first-hand when Anderson performs Saturday at Mystic Seaport's Boat Shed.

Alistair Anderson, 7 p.m. Saturday, Mystic Seaport Boat Shed, Route 27, Mystic; $20 ($15 members); ticket proceeds benefit the Mystic Sesaport Sea Music Festival; also, chantey sing at Frohsinn Hall, 54 Greenmanville Ave., Mystic; (860) 572-0711.
