A tribute to Croce

Published September 18. 2013 4:00AM

Forty years ago this August, Jim Croce headlined the Philadelphia Folk Festival. One month later on Sept. 20, 1973, he and lead guitarist Maury Muehleisen died in a plane crash in Louisiana.

At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, southeastern Connecticut band Maggie's Guitar will headline a tribute show at Croce's old stomping grounds, performing a concert of the legendary singer/songwriter's music at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center in Upper Darby, Pa., outside Philadelphia.

Friends and family of the legendary singer/songwriter will join Maggie's Guitar on stage to perform Croce's songs, share his stories and celebrate his life. The Villanova Spires will open.
