It's been more than a decade since Lionel Richie headed out on a North American tour. He just kicked off a new one, dubbed "All The Hits All Night Long," on Wednesday, and it's landing Sunday at MGM Grand at Foxwoods.
Richie is coming off the surprising success of 2012's "Tuskegee," a platinum-selling CD on which he teamed up with country singers to record new versions of his past hits. It ended up being his first #1 album in more than 25 years.
Last year, too, Richie played at Bonnaroo with - wait for it - Kenny Rogers. They dueted on "Lady" and "All Night Long." I just picture the hipsters standing in the audience, agog.
Richie's also dipped into the "Idol" and "Voice" world - and I do mean world. Within the last few weeks, he guested on "Chinese Idol" in Shanghai. And last year, he turned up on "The Voice Australia."
