Garde screens movies from Manhattan Short Film Festival

Published October 03. 2013 4:00AM
"Do I Have to Take Care of Everything" will be screened Saturday during the Manhattan Short Film Festival at the Garde Arts Center in New London.

The Garde Arts Center is once again participating in the Manhattan Short Film Festival - and that means you can participate, too.

These short films are screened at theaters around the world, and audiences get to cast their vote for their fave film.

And this year they get to voice their opinion in a new category: best actor. (This covers both actors and actresses, by the way.)

The theaters located in more than 300 cities will collect ballots from their movie-goers and submit the total to the Manhattan Short organizers. They compile all the data and announce the winner at 10 a.m. Sunday in New York City and on ManhattanShort.com.

Among this year's films, selected from 628 entries, are: "Do I Have to Take Care of Everything" (Selma Vilhunen) Finland; "Friday" (Seb Edwards) England; and "I Am a Great Big Ball of Sadness" (Ken Urban) USA.

Manhattan Short Film Festival, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Garde Arts Center, 325 State St., New London; $10; (860) 444-7373, gardearts.org.
