State plans workshop on labeling chemicals

Published October 10. 2013 4:00AM

New rules and regulations governing the Globally Harmonized System for classifying and labeling chemicals will be explained at a New London workshop sponsored by the Connecticut Department of Labor's Division of Occupational Safety and Health.

The workshop will run from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Fort Trumbull State Park.

CONN-OSHA Occupational Safety Training Specialist Catherine Zinsser said GHS is a relatively new concept developed by the United Nations. The system defines and classifies the hazards of chemical products and communicates health and safety information.
