Author James Patterson at R.J. Julia

Published October 10. 2013 4:00AM

Whether James Patterson writes his books anymore doesn't seem to hinder his perpetual bestseller momentum - regardless of whether he's writing for adults or young adults or children. Fans are familiar with all of his work, including the Middle School books, "I Funny," "Confessions of a Murder Suspect," and the Maximum Ride, Witch & Wizard, Daniel X, and Alex Cross series.

In any event, it's safe to say Patterson at least gets each book project off the ground in terms of plot and character before bringing in one of his co-authors to help complete the manuscript. The latest such effort is "Treasure Hunters," a new kids' adventure series with Patterson working alongside frequent collaborator Chris Grabenstein and illustrator Juliana Neufeld.

On Saturday, Patterson appears at R.J. Julia in support of "Treasure Hunters." It's important to note that the event is completely "Treasure Hunters"-centric, and one book purchase per family is required.

James Patterson, 4 p.m. Saturday, R.J. Julia, 768 Boston Post Road, Madison; free with purchase of book; reservations recommended: (203) 245-3959, rjjulia.com.
