New London's the place for a fall food stroll

Published October 10. 2013 4:00AM

New London turns into a blocks-long buffet Wednesday for New London Main Street's annual Fall Food Stroll.

And, really, what's not to like about a city that becomes a food bonanza, all thanks to the purchase of one little button?

Said button entitles you to slip into about 50 restaurants and shops in the city to nosh, nibble, or - forget self-control - devour a whole array of foodstuffs.

The participating venues include Chaplin's, Dev's On Bank, East Coast Catering's Atrium Cafe, Gaspar's New American Cuisine, Kelly's On The Bank, Mambo Bar & Restaurant, Muddy Waters Cafe and Tony D's - and that's just a sampling.

While food's always a good excuse for a festival, this one promises other elements, too: shops are offering discounts, promotions and demos, and musicians will perform at various locations.

As for those buttons, they can be be bought ahead of time on New London Main Street's website; at 147 State St., Suite B, New London, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays; and via (860) 444-2489.

And you might want to buy your button in advance, since last year's fall stroll was sold out.

Fall Food Stroll, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, downtown New London; in advance, buttons $25, $20 students and members of the military; on Wed., each are $5 more; kids 5 and under are free with paid adult; (860) 444-2489, newlondonmainstreet.org.
