Providence - UConn football fans may get a chance to spend the holidays in Hawaii in the near future.

The American Athletic Conference announced four new bowl agreements on Thursday, a six-year cycle starting in 2014, and three of those seasons an American school will send a representative to Honolulu for the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl.

AAC commissioner Mike Aresco said the conference has extended existing annual agreements with two bowls - the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl in St. Petersburg, Fla. and the BBVA Compass Bowl in Birmingham, Ala.

In addition, the AAC will send a team to either the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl in Forth Worth, Texas (2014, 2016 and 2018) and the Hawaii Bowl (2015, 2017, 2019). Aresco said three of the top six bowl-eligible AAC schools will be selected annually to play in those bowls, which are all owned by ESPN.

As for opponents, the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl will pick a team from the Atlantic Coast Conference three times and one from Conference USA three other teams. The Southeastern Conference will send a team to Birmingham, the Mountain West will provide an opponent in Honolulu and the Armed Forces Bowl will take Army in 2014 (provided the Black Knights are bowl-eligible) and a Big 12 team in 2016 and 2018.

"These bowls allow us to play outstanding teams and they will also annually reward our student-athletes and coaches with memorable postseason experiences," Aresco said in a statement released by AAC. "Our fans will enjoy these great destinations and a national television audience will enjoy watching these compelling bowl games."

The AAC previously announced a partnership with the Military Bowl (at Navy) against and ACC school and the conference is expected to announced its remaining bowl lineup in the coming weeks. There have been multiple reports that bowls are in the process of being lined up in the Bahamas and Boca Raton, Fla.
