Players to watch: Maine Maritime, QB Michael Fahey (4-for-18, 43 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 60 carries, 301 yards, 4 TD); RB Billy Wetherbee (108 carries, 598 yards, 2 TD).
Coast Guard, QB Derek Victory (95-for-164, 934 yards, 6 TD, 7 INT); RB Jake Wawrzyniak (98 carries, 300 yards, 21 catches, 99 yards); WR Collis Brown (37 catches, 524 yards, 4 TD); DB Joe Rizzardi (54 tackles, 39 solo); DE Aaron Black (51 tackles, 29 solo); PK Tyler Henning (9-for-11 FG, 17-for-17 PAT).
Analysis: It could turn into a historic Homecoming Day for the Bears, who can make coach Bill George the career leader in coaching wins with a victory over the Mariners. George and the legendary John Merriman are tied with 48. Coast Guard is facing a struggling MMA team which will run, run and run some more out of the triple-option. The Mariners rush for 369.8 yards per game, second in Division III, but their defense yields 642.8 yards per game, the most in the nation. That's good news for the Bears, who have been coming on of late on offense thanks to the play of Victory, a freshman making his third start at QB, and the dangerous Brown, who leads the NEFC in receptions.
