Lyme-Old Lyme VFW Post 1467 provides for veterans in need

Published November 04. 2013 4:00AM

The Lyme-Old Lyme VFW Post 1467 provides assistance for needy veterans.

The post offers temporary monetary assistance to defray costs for a rental payment or mortgage interest payment, utility or home heating fuel, tuition assistance, medical expenses, medications, eyeglasses, food and incidentals, children’s clothing needs, and durable medical equipment.

The VFW also may help temporarily defray the costs of vehicle expenses, home repairs, maintenance, or disabled access renovations. Personal privacy is always protected.

There are some purposes for which assistance is not available, but all VFW disbursements are reviewed and determined by the executive board for payments and purchases for veterans’ and veterans’ family assistance.
