Do they have a full-scale Eddie?
That's the most important question.
Because, if you're going to be an Iron Maiden tribute band, and you don't have a full-scale Eddie - their 30-foot mascot who appears onstage in a variety of undead guises during their concerts - well, it's not very accurate, is it?
On the other hand, this IS Iron Maiden we're talking about. As one of the most successful and visionary founders of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, Iron Maiden's complex arrangements - not to mention the vocal range of singer Bruce Dickinson - makes the idea of exact replication a tough assignment.
Eddie or not, it should be interesting to see how well IM tributists Wrathchild fare when they play Saturday in New London's Six String Cafe (formerly the Bank Street Cafe). They promise an evening of Maiden music as well as other metal-happy surprises.
