Celebrate the solstice at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum

The Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center will host a Winter Solstice event, "Gifts of the Land," on Friday, Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This annual winter thanksgiving celebration will feature family-friendly stories, crafts and other activities, including a puppet show titled "Why Rabbit Turns White" in the Auditorium Lobby at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Visitors may join Wayne Reels, director of cultural resources, by the fire on the Farmstead from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., to learn about why Native people celebrate a winter thanksgiving.
