The 25th Niantic Light Parade was a marvelous spectacle for the thousands who lined the route. The floats were magical, the marchers fun and enthusiastic. All in all a wonderful night! However, once the crowds receded one couldn't help but notice the incredible amount of litter left behind. Both sides of Main Street were strewn with discarded cups, wrappers, bags and other assorted debris. It seems that visitors and locals alike showed an appalling lack of respect for the village. Additionally, these folks set a terrible example for the many children in attendance, sadly assuring that such slovenly behavior will be repeated by future generations.

Newtown and Sandy Hook families have asked that people perform random acts of kindness in memory of those who died. Have you seen, performed or experienced any unexpected acts of kindness today?
Yes. Someone I didn't know did something special and unexpected for me.
No. But thanks for the reminder. The day's not over.
I don't plan to limit this to only today.
I rarely participate in grassroots calls to action.
