When a writer begins his argument by calling another person a liar, he has no facts. The author of the letter, "Incompetent Obama no friend of Catholics," (Dec. 5), must know that President Obama is not closing the Vatican Embassy. It will be closer to the Vatican, safer, and will save a "bit over $1 million" every year.
The IRS "scandal" was an attempt to clarify policy toward charities applying for tax exemption. The initiative did not come from the White House and was applied to all groups. The real scandal is that the law says the exemption is for groups "solely" engaged in charitable activities, not "mainly" engaged. Now those "mainly" political groups will come under a different code that will require disclosing donor names. Ouch!
The Affordable Care Act is a Republican proposal of the Heritage Foundation, implemented successfully in Massachusetts, and they like it.
The real scandal is the GOP's refusal to recognize elections, its refusal to respect the president and the office of president, its refusal to denounce the real lies of its ignorant fringe and its refusal to pass laws desired by the majority of Americans.
