Craig M. Crews of Yale University has been named recipient of the first CURE Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Connecticut United for Research Excellence, a statewide industry association that represents the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, launched the award to recognize people whose longstanding commitment to entrepreneurship has made a difference in the state.
Crews is founder of Proteolix and Arvinas, two biotech startups. He also is associated with Yale's biology, chemistry and pharmacology departments.
Arvinas, focusing on novel therapeutics to treat a variety of diseases, has 15 employees in New Haven.
An earlier venture, Proteolix developed the cancer drug Kyprolis.
