The Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut announced Friday that it has promoted Alison Woods as the first vice president and chief operating officer in its 30-year history.
She will assume her new responsibilities on Wednesday.
Woods' new responsibilities will include overseeing a new strategic plan and acting as President Maryam Elahi's deputy. She will continue to work directly with charitable people in New London County and the two Women & Girls Funds serving southeast Connecticut and Norwich.
Woods, of East Lyme, has been at the foundation for 12 years. During her time there, she helped establish 237 new charitable funds, and saw a tenfold growth of the Women & Girls Fund-Southeast Area to $2.4 million in assets, the foundation said in a news release.
