New London to induct six into Football Hall of Fame

Six former players will be inducted into the New London High School Football Hall of Fame when the Whalers hold their annual football banquet and Hall of Fame ceremony at the school on Sunday, March 9, at 1 p.m.

The Class of 2014 inductees include Joseph Bigornia (Class of 1952), Joseph Kelly (1954), Joseph DiMaggio (1954), Charles Ashburn Jr. (1961), Larry Pemberton (1973) and Frank Marcille (1993).

In addition, head coach Duane Maranda said New London will honor the 1983 Whalers, who won the first of the school's five state championships with a 24-0 victory over Torrington in the Class M-II final.
