Norwich – Police on Wednesday arrested a second man for his alleged role in an armed home invasion and robbery that took place on Feb. 17 in Norwich.
Keshawn Vargas, 21, of 24 S. Fifth Ave. was one of three people police say forced their way into an apartment at 7 Broad St. and robbed the occupants. Recovered during the investigation were marijuana plants, a .22 caliber rifle, a video game system and video games, court records show.
Vargas is charged with home invasion, first-degree robbery, carrying a dangerous weapon, second-degree unlawful restraint, fifth-degree larceny, second-degree threatening and criminal possession of a firearm. Held in lieu of a court-set $200,000 bond, Vargas was slated for an appearance Thursday in Norwich Superior Court.
Norwich police previously charged Shyhaim Chisholm, 17, of Norwich, on charges in connection with the same incident. Chisholm, who is being prosecuted as an adult because of the seriousness of the alleged offenses, faces charges of home invasion and first-degree robbery. Chisholm remains held in lieu of a $100,000 bond. His case is pending in New London Superior Court, where he has entered a not guilty plea.
Norwich police detectives expect further arrests.
