"War Bells" by Nathan Lewis

In the hierarchy of "Doors of Perception," we have, of course, Aldous Huxley, who coined the phrase to describe his frisky experiences with mescaline. Then Jimbo Morrison decided to name his band The Doors in honor of Huxley - and not an aisle, as some believe, at Home Depot. And now, the Six Summit Gallery in Ivoryton presents a new exhibit called "Doors of Perception: Hollis Dunlap, Nathan Lewis and Susan Stephenson." Boasting a feast of perceptual painting, the show kicks off with an opening reception from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday. Each of these three artists offers a stunning take on realism through portraiture, landscapes, still life and narrative. Through June 22. The gallery is at 6 Summit St., Ivoryton. Hours 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wed., 11 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Thurs., 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Fri., noon-4 p.m. Sat. and Sun. For info, call (860) 581-8332 or visit sixsummitgallery.com.
