There were no surprises at the Democratic convention Tuesday as Democrats from Stonington and North Stonington endorsed incumbent Diana Urban of North Stonington to run for her eighth term as state representative in the 43rd District.
Urban said she never intended to stay in the legislature this long but wants to continue her work on legislation to protect children, results-based budgeting and animal cruelty’s link to domestic abuse. Urban has also led the effort to uncover how financially troubled Amistad America has spent $8 million in state funding.
Urban, who is chairwoman of the legislature’s Children’s Committee, recently received an award from the Mt. Sinai Children’s Health Center for her work on children's health issues.
