Lyme — A home at 108 Hamburg Road (Route 156) was damaged by fire Thursday night but saved from complete destruction thanks to a quick response, the town’s fire chief said.

Firefighters from Lyme, Old Lyme and Saybrook departments arrived to find heavy fire coming from the second-floor windows of the two-story home.

Lyme Fire Chief Tom Brown said firefighters were able to contain the fire to about half of the second floor.

People were home at the time of the fire but no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the fire marshal.
