Waterford – A downed wire on Route 1 Thursday left 1,659 Connecticut Light & Power customers temporarily without power and closed Route 1. Power was restored to all customers by 6:30 p.m.

The downed wire was reported shortly before 5 p.m. in the area of Route 1 and Fog Plain Road. Police closed Route 1 between Brill Avenue and Fog Plain Road from about 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. while CL&P crews worked to repair the issue.

The reason the wire came down was under investigation, a CL&P representative said.
