A Norwich man was arrested for assault Friday after a 2-year-old child in his care suffered “drag like” injuries and a broken leg, police said in a news release.

Police began investigating at about 7 a.m., after learning the child was being treated at William W. Backus Hospital for “suspicious injuries”, a police department news release said.

Police said an investigation by officer Avery Marsh concluded that Anyello Frayind, a family acquaintance, had been caring for the child and assaulted him “by repeatedly punching him in his leg and dragging him across the carpet. The assault resulted in the child sustaining a broken femur and ‘drag like’ injuries to his face, neck and chest,” the news release said.

Frayind, 29, of 361 Central Ave. was charged with second-degree assault and risk of injury to a minor. He was held on a $100,000 bond and scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 21.

The child was transferred to Hartford Children’s Hospital and was expected to make a full recovery.

I wouldn't know because I know better than to watch depressing fare that's just a waste of time.
